Our swim team had a fantastic time down in St. George for our first meet of the year. Woods Cross competed against over 20 teams and represented our school well. We had many, many personal bests over the course of the meets and some standout performances.
Some performances of note were the girls 200 medley relay and the girls 400 free relays which placed 2nd and 3rd overall respectively. These relays were led by captains Kalyn Avery and Layla Glissmeyer, sophomore standout Ally Boynton, and freshman phenom Nohea Kamauu.
In individual events Layla Glissmeyer took 6th in the 200 IM and the 500 free, Kalyn Avery took 15th overall in the girls 50 free against 280 competitors, Ally Boynton took 2nd overall in the girls 50 free and 4th overall in the girls 100 backstroke, and Nohea Kamauu took 5th overall in the 100 fly and 7th overall in the 100 backstroke. For the boys Zach White (25.19) and Taylor Dixon (25.35) posted personal bests in the 50 free and Caden Neuenschwander posted a season best 25.94. In the 100 free Luke Rogers also posted a personal best time of 57.09.
There were enough personal bests that I cannot post them all but congratulations to all swimmers who competed. Coming up in the next little bit is our Thanksgiving Invitational meet at our home pool and we’re excited to see what our team can do there.
